The Story:
Madeline Lucas (1901-1989) was the youngest of the family of John and Annie Lucas, proprietors of Haliburton's famous Grand Central Hotel. As a young woman, she worked at the Haliburton Post Office, located in James Dover's general store at the South East corner of Highland Street and Maple Avenue. Here she poses in front of the general store. The post office operated a savings bank as a sideline. Rexall Pharmacy currently occupies this site.
