The Story:
The Prust building, at the North East corner of Highland Street and Maple Avenue, was erected in the late 19th century by William Prust, a prominent local builder. It has housed several commercial ventures. Between 1906 and 1912, it was home to the short-lived Haliburton branch of the Sterling Bank of Canada. Later it housed the offices and management quarters for the nearby Laking Lumber Company interests. Subsequent tenants included merchants George Earle, Russell Dart, Harold Black. In the 1960s, the Langdon family obtained the building, and over the course of extensive renovations, presently operate Haliburton Home Hardware from the premises.
