Tundra was a male Northern Timber wolf and one of the first permanent guests at Wolf Hollow. Tundra and his sister Taiga were adopted by Ron and Sharon Lawrence during a trip to the Yukon Territory in 1984. The Lawrences were approached by a young man in their hotel's dining room who had overheard their conversation regarding the territory's wolf hunts. The young man owned a wolf of his own that had mated with a wild wolf and had had six pups. The mother wolf had been injured when someone shot at her with birdshot and was no longer able to nurse the pups. Four of the pups had already died, and the young man was looking for homes for the remaining two. Ron and Sharon agreed to take them.

The two wolf pups were very sick with Ron and Sharon first encountered them. On their journey back home to Ontario, Ron and Sharon were able to stabilize the pups and over the next few weeks, managed to nurse them back to health.
