R.D. Lawrence's written works had always inspired his readers to send him fan mail and gifts, some of which were delivered in person at Wolf Hollow. This painted saw is one such gift.

The saw was a present from an American fan and interviewer who came to visit the sanctuary and the wolves. Sandra D. Lambert (the artist) was a friend of the visitor, who was from New Jersey. Sandra was also a fan of R.D.'s work. The painting on the old saw is the artist's impression of a scene from R.D.'s book Paddy.

This saw hung over the red sliding back door to the log garage/workshop where Ron often worked between writing sessions.
