The Story:
Log drive on the Drag River at Dover's Rapids, near Haliburton village, early 1900s. The logs in the foreground have a shaggy bark and appear to be cedar. The men are using pike poles and peaveys to apply leverage and clear the logs hung up on the shore. Caulked (spiked) boots were worn to enhance traction on the slippery logs.
The loggers include left to right Ed Robertson (first), William Watt (third), and J. Bowen (sixth).
