The Story:
Lance-Sergeant Elwood Hoxie of Haliburton (1889-1935) enlisted in the 109th Battalion (D Company) in 1915 for service in the Great War (1914-1918). Some of his training was in Haliburton, and prior to embarking for overseas in 1916, he posed for this photo along with an admiring nephew Jack Hoxie (1912-2005).
