This is the daily attendance register for S.S. No. 9 Stanhope for the years 1934 through 1939.
Notes:
The students named in the Attendance Register were Nelson Austen, Walter Austen, Dora Crawford, Wesley Crawford, Roy Crawford, Russell Crawford, Gladys Crawford, Ethel MacKay, Marjorie MacKay, Thelma Rivers and Russell Rivers. The teachers during these years were B.J. Cooper and Susie Magee. The school inspector was A.H. Brown
A note in the register states that the school was closed from September 1 to 12 in 1937. "School closed due to infantile paralysis (by Local School Board)."
The decline in number of students leading to the closure of the school is evident in this register.
In June 1937, one student transferred to SS #2 Anson, the Scotch Line school, leaving 8 students. In August 1938, three MacKay children transferred to Minden P.S., then in September 1938 two Austen children left for "home help", leaving only three Crawford children on the register in the school's final year..
