The Story:
Archie Robertson (1870-1961) was from the Allsaw district of Minden Township, where he farmed. As a young man, he made his way over to Dysart Township to work at lumbering in the winter. He is shown here on top of a sleigh load of logs driving a team of horses on Drag Lake in 1912. At that time it was likely that he worked as a jobber on the timber limits held by the William Laking Lumber Company in eastern Dysart and Dudley Townships. It was a regular practice for farmers to supplement their income by working off the farms.
